Prepare your network for Matrx

Bandwidth requirements

Matrx is designed to provide you with the best audio, video, and content sharing experience regardless of your network conditions. Which means when bandwidth is limited, audio quality is prioritized to ensure clarity and stability.

With sufficient bandwidth, Matrx enhances media quality, delivering high-fidelity audio, high-definition video resolution, and frame rates for both video and content sharing up to 30 fps.

The table below details Matrx's bandwidth usage under various conditions. Matrx employs an efficient and conservative bandwidth strategy, requiring only above 1.5 Mbps to deliver HD video quality. Actual bandwidth consumption during calls or meetings varies dynamically based on factors like video layout, resolution, and frame rate. Higher available bandwidth automatically improves quality and resource utilization for an optimal experience.

Minimum, recommended, and best performance bandwidth requirements are based on per-port usage. Typically, each user has one endpoint, such as a computer or mobile device. However, if a user joins a meeting on both a computer and a mobile device, that user has two endpoints.

  • Minimum bandwidth requirement for video calls is 180p resolution, and the maximum resolution is 720p.

To meet diverse screen sharing scenarios and maximize the use of limited available bandwidth, Matrx offers two screen sharing modes:

  • Clarity Priority Mode: In this mode, screen clarity is prioritized from capture to transmission and rendering, as long as audio is not affected. When bandwidth is insufficient, frame rate is sacrificed to maintain video clarity. This mode is suitable for scenarios where screen changes are infrequent, such as PowerPoint and document sharing. In this mode, the frame rate is reduced to approximately 1-8 fps.
  • Smoothness-First Mode: In this mode, smoothness is prioritized from capture to transmission and rendering, as long as audio is not affected. When bandwidth is insufficient, the video resolution is reduced to maintain frame rate. This mode is intended for scenarios with frequent screen changes, such as video sharing. However, if bandwidth is sufficient and the customer's device performance is adequate, we will maximize the user's resolution while maintaining 15-30 fps.
